Compassionate Conversations with Mary Lou

Aim:

To provide Compassionate Conversations by phone and in person where practical, for individuals who may be struggling with the following (but not limited to) the following topics:

  • GLBTQ Issues
  • Parenting of GLBTQ individuals
  • Medical/Health Issues/Concerns
  • Suicide of a Loved One
  • The Grieving Process

Fee Structure:

There is no charge for our first conversation.

My regular fee is $60 for one hour. However, charges would be on a sliding scale based on income. Determination of hourly rate would be made with each client on a case-by-case basis.

Credentials:

  • Registered Nurse. Worked for Hospice, HIV/AIDS clinic, Psychiatric Hospital
  • Had weekly support group for GLBTQ individuals for two and a half years
  • Have shared my story across the United States and in Canada, including:
    The Cathedral of Hope, Dallas and many other churches
    Many college and university campuses/PFLAG chapters
    Featured in For the Bible Tells Me So (You Tube link) Documentary and other documentaries
    Story featured in PEOPLE magazine, November 2007
    Worked closely with Soulforce
  • Born and raised in very fundamentalist environment
  • Lost my 29 year old daughter to suicide in 1997
  • Have led many grief support groups and hosted grief workshops.
